Soho's Victoria's Secret was buzzing yesterday as Adriana Lima stepped out of her vintage ride in the world's most expensive piece of lingerie...a $2 million dollar bra from Victoria's Secret! Every year Victoria's Secret present a bra that is the price of a nice beach house as part of their holiday collection. I do wonder if anyone ever buys this bra or if the jewels just go back into circulation. You never know...that tennis bracelet you are wearing right now could have had a former life as a bra for Heidi Klum (maybe that's something to say to the boyfriend to encourage diamond buying ;))!
Supermodel Candice Swanepoel will open the lingerie runway show, which will also star supermodels Adriana Lima, Alessandra Ambrosio, Miranda Kerr and a bevy of other Victoria’s Secret Angels, and will also include red carpet interviews, model profiles and a behind-the-scenes look at the making of the world’s most celebrated fashion show.
All with the signature angel wings, and long-legged models, perhaps the most coveted item on the runway will be the $2.5 million “Fantasy Treasure Bra”. Imagine the security!
The Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show is one of the highest-rated television events in the country, drawing eyes in prime time since 1995. One of the traditions of the annual broadcast is that a new Fantasy Bra is unveiled and worn by one of the company’s top “Angels”.
The release of the Diamond fantasy bra of the Victoria’s Secret line of fashion created the most scintillating ripples in the world of intimate apparel. The exorbitant price tag of 2.5 million dollars (i.e. over13.5cr) became the heartthrob of the fashion world. It’s needless to mention that this masterpiece creation was all decked in glittering diamonds and sapphires. Intimates house designers are using the finest quality of silk and muslin imported from the far off lands to create the most befitting pieces of lingerie which once worn can never be forgotten. The most expensive lingerie in the world is notoriously priced and it’s almost as valuable as a piece of jewelry.
Susan Rosen Diamond Bikini
The most expensive intimate apparel in the world is certainly elusive. For their 2012 Swimsuit Edition Issue, Sports Illustrated revealed two things: A whole lot of skin from model Molly Sims, and their $30 million (over 165cr) Diamond Bikini. The outfit was designed by Susan Rosen and collectively assembles over 150 carats of D flawless diamonds. The thong contains one of the world’s largest pear-shaped diamonds, weighing in at 51 karats, in addition to a 31-karat emerald cut. All of these stones are set in platinum, making this teeny weenie bikini a masterpiece to emerge out of the world of lingerie.
Victoria’s Secret Sexy Splendor Bra
Designed in the vein of the Victoria’s Secret’s Very Sexy collection, the bra is interwoven with 18-karat white gold, boasting 2,900 pave-set diamonds and 22 rubies. The heart of this piece, as modelled by Brazillian babe Gisele Mundchen, features a 101-carat pear-shaped diamond dubbed the “Mouawad Splendor Diamond” after its designer. Mouawad has been in the high-end jewelry trade in Europe since the 1890’s, peddling its wares to royal families. It’s no wonder, since one would have to pay the princely sum of $12.5 million (over 67.6cr) to get their hands on it.
Victoria’s Secret Heavenly “70” Fantasy Bra
Yet another standout in the lineup of Fantasy Bras that are unveiled at the Victoria’s Secret’s yearly fashion show, this piece premiered in 2004 whilst showcasing the, er, assets of Ms. Tyra Banks. Designed by jeweler Mouawad, the bra alone garners its namesake from a flawless 70-carat diamond cradled at the center. Valued at $10 million (over 54cr) – not the priciest of the Fantasy Bra collection but definitely one of my favorites– the bra took 270+ hours to craft.
Gold Lingerie – Shenyang City, China
This piece of lingerie was made in 2007 over a period of four months by four different craftsmen for a jewelry shop in the Shenyang City, China. Although valued at over $26,000 (Over 14 Lakhs), the pieces – made of gold – were displayed for three weeks and were never put on sale. I have to be honest with you, I’m not that huge a fan of yellow gold. However, those who are, know this- this lingerie set was carved from 950 grams of pure yellow gold.
Victoria’s Secret Red Hot Fantasy Bra
Another one from Victoria’s Secret- the Victoria’s Secret Red Hot Fantasy Bra premiered at the Victoria’s Secret’s annual Fashion Show in 2000 is estimated to be worth an eye-popping 15million dollars (Over 81Cr). This piece of beaty and is decorated with a total of 1,300 gemstones including 300 carats of Thai rubies make this little number the record-holder for most expensive knickers with the Guinness Book of World Records.
Recently Victoria’s Secret has unveiled its “2008 Black Diamond Fantasy Miracle Bra”. Brazilian model Adriana Lima is pictured here wearing worlds most expensive bra studded with 3,575 black diamonds, 34 rubies, 117 certified one-carat round diamonds and over 3,900 stunning gems. This Victoria’s Secret’s latest bra seems to target the celebrity class as their spare bank balances can only allow them to ink these shining deals.
India gets its own Victoria’s Secret-like couture lingerie with a 1 million euro diamond bustier by designer Anamika Khanna in collaboration with ORRA diamonds. Dubbed as the most expensive bustier, the Orra Diamond Bustier is handcrafted and studded with Belgian diamonds. The bustier seems to have been designed to be worn alone rather than donning it in the traditional way. So, we are sure it won’t meet the same fate as Victoria’s Secret’s diamond-studded lingerie. “While the design is influenced by the strong Indian heritage, they have used the finest Belgian diamonds in this magnificent piece, making it a true luxurious and one of a kind creation in the world of diamonds,” stated Orra, Chief Executive Officer Vijay Jain.
